 Tired of getting entwined in a vicious circle of making New Year’s resolution comes year-end time, and betraying the same as soon as the ensuing year rolls on, I finally made up my mind and decided to come up with a Personal Lifetime Commitment of a "Sinner then-saved now-by-Grace". Sounds sublime and mystical, all right! But, thank good Grace, I realized it's the only recourse to get rid of the "year-out-year-in" cycle of illusive day-dreaming.
I’m taking the pleasure of reproducing for this blog an improved outline of the thought flows of "My Lifetime Commitment to my Self" which I delivered in a privilege speech before an audience of some twenty Co-Independent Entrepreneurs during our seminar-workshop on "Leadership-in-Action" held not very long ago at the Country Home & Convention Center in my native town, now a city – Gen. Santos:
1st : I believe, I am made alive for a purpose-driven life.
2nd: Therefore, by Grace I need to make the most of every good opportunity that comes my way.
3rd: And that, I must be positive and forward-looking in my pursuit for the best and finest values in life.
4th: That I should not postpone doing the good things that can possibly & reasonably be done today.
5th: That I need to constantly & continually praise, thank, and pray to Father God for Enlightenment, Guidance, Strength, Courage, and Wisdom to overcome life's challenges along the way.
6th: That I should live a meaningful, purposeful, functional, productive, fruitful, rewarding, & fulfilling life in the now and here onward.
7th: And finally, I look forward yonder through the eyes of Faith, with certainty of Hope & greatness of Love to commune in person with my Savior, Master, Lord & King in that blissful place of Eternal Abode He promised to prepare for all His faithful Ones.
Friends, like it or not, day-in & day-out in the natural world, you and I may be confronted with various forms of challenges coming from the outside. But, I think the toughest of all challenges, or enemies if you may, comes from within.
Making and upholding a lifetime commitment to oneself is one practicable and effective stratagem to ensure victory against one's worst enemy - Our "baser self".
